Loopring (LRC) is the token powering the Loopring protocol, a layer 2 solution that helps scale the Ethereum network with Zero-Knowledge Rollup (zk-Rollup) technology. Specifically, it supports decentralised exchanges (DEX's) and automated-market makers (AMMs). Developers can build their own projects on top of the protocol.
Loopring is risk-free and low-cost as relayers don’t hold users’ assets. You can match orders without asset reserves, lowering barriers to entry. Alternatively, run a relayer while owning token reserves and provide extra liquidity by adding your own orders, earning more money as a market-maker in the process.
Noncommital and nonbinding, as a participant in the Loopring ecosystem, you can stop at any time, without impacting your or your users' assets. Loopring incentivizes wallets with at least 20% of the trading fee on all orders they generate - in real time.
The project was founded by the former Google software engineer Daniel Wang in 2017 and the mainnet launched in 2019.
