What is Venus?

The Venus Protocol is an easy-to-use crypto asset lending and borrowing platform. Venus mints the decentralised stablecoin pegged to the US dollar called VAI, which is backed by a basket of other tokens.
The Venus Protocol utilises price feed oracles, including those from Chainlink to provide accurate pricing data that cannot be tampered with. The protocol is a Binance Smart Chain Venus smart contract for supplying or borrowing assets.
As the Venus Protocol is built on top of the Binance Smart Chain, it has an exceedingly high speed and low cost compared to other DeFi protocols.
XVS is the governance token for Venus Protocol, enabling holders to vote on decisions such as whether to change parameters or add new collateral types. The Venus protocol was developed by the Swipe project team in 2020, led by their founder Joselito Lizarondo.
